Solar Heat Europe welcomes CRES as its new member

Solar Heat Europe is the leading advocate for the solar thermal sector in Europe, dedicated to promoting and advancing the deployment of solar heat as a key technology for Europe’s energy transition to clean solutions.

We are thrilled to announce CRES (Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving) as our newest member. We look forward to continuing and strengthening our collaboration to advance the adoption of solar thermal solutions in Europe and globally.

The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) is the Greek national Centre for Renewable Energy Sources (RES), Rational Use of Energy (RUE) and Energy Saving (ES). It is a public entity, supervised by the Ministry of Environment and Energy and has financial and administrative independence. Its main goal is the promotion of RES/RUE/ES applications at a national and international level, as well as the support of related activities taking into consideration the principles of sustainable development.

CRES plays a pivotal role as the official Greek government consultant on RES/RUE/ES national policy, strategy, and planning. The organisation conducts applied research, develops economically viable and environmentally friendly technologies, and organises demonstration and pilot projects. Additionally, CRES provides technical services, disseminates technologies, offers specialized know-how, and supports interested organizations and investors through reliable information. Over the years, CRES has participated in more than 900 European, national, and international projects.

The Solar Thermal Department of CRES is highly experienced in solar thermal technologies, including Solar Cooling Systems and Concentrating systems for electricity production, industrial applications, solar cooling and desalination. The department is engaged in designing, developing, and monitoring of innovative solar thermal systems and components as well as in Certification, Standardisation and Policy-related issues.

Solar Heat Europe has proven its commitment to solar thermal heating and cooling advance in Europe with remarkable milestones. Our membership is both an applaud to this commission but also a strategic action to advance solar thermal head on” – Dr. Vasiliki Drosou, Head of Solar Thermal Department
