#SolarHeat awareness through video animations

The European project ‘Our Solartown’ through which Solar Heat Europe is raising awareness on climate change, renewable energy solutions, and solar thermal since 2018 has recently launched 2 brand new animated videos explaining the solar thermal technology and its scalability in the different market segments.

While the target group of the project is represented by young generations, the concept of the videos aims at attracting viewers of all ages with the end purpose of informing them about solar thermal and highlighting its importance for a decarbonised future. The animations are available online on the project’s YouTube channel and are being promoted through a campaign on social media and other communication channels. The videos are available in English and with subtitles in German, Greek, and Slovenian. Soon there will also be available subtitles in French, Polish, and Dutch.

We invite the solar thermal sector to support the dissemination efforts by sharing the videos on different communication channels and using them in events and meetings with stakeholders.

‘Our Solartown’ project’s initial end date was in summer 2021, but to tackle the effects of the pandemic on the progress of the project and the limited offline activities that were planned with schools and students, the project’s consortium has asked for an extension until November which was approved. The extension gave the opportunity to all partners to find new ways of bringing an impact and reaching a larger audience of young people, but also the public, and the two animated videos were part of the efforts.

The project’s consortium consists of 5 organisations, Akaryon, The Environmental Education Center (K.P.E) Pertouliu-Trikkeon, VseUK Institute, Solar Heat Europe, and Climate Alliance Austria as project coordinator.
