Horizon Europe – Opening of the new call for proposals delayed

The delays in the approval of the Multiyear Financial Framework of the European Union have led to delays in the launch of several instruments, including the new Horizon Europe. Horizon Europe is the ambitious EU research & innovation framework programme for 2021-2027 with a budget of €95.5 billion.

Its overarching goals are to strengthen the EU’s scientific and technological bases and the European Research Area (ERA), boost Europe’s innovation capacity, competitiveness, and jobs, deliver on citizen’s priorities, and sustain our socio-economic model and values. Horizon Europe has a particular focus on creating impact or the European Green Deal, the digital and sustainability transition, and recovery from the ongoing pandemic.

One of the pillars addressed is Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, which includes Climate, Energy, and Mobility. The launch of the new call is foreseen for the coming weeks (at latest by mid-July) and the deadlines for the first calls ranges from September 2021 to April 2022 (please note this still requires to be confirmed by an official announcement from the European Commission).

Even if the call is not yet officially launched, it is possible to access the final version of the document within the members’ area of our website, under this page. At the same place, Solar Heat Europe members can also find a summary of some of the most relevant calls for solar thermal.
