To address slow permitting in Europe

In order to achieve the carbon neutrality target for 2050 set by the European Green Deal, renewable energy solutions need to be deployed quickly and at a large scale. However, the sector is facing drawbacks and delays from the slow permitting process across Europe. Licensing frameworks at national levels are not keeping pace with the volume of renewable investments needed to deliver on the decarbonization target.

To address this issue, Solar Heat Europe and other renewable energy associations are reaching out to the European Commission. To Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, to Commissioner Kadri Simson, to Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius, to Commissioner Thierry Breton, to Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, and to the relevant Directors General, we ask for a simplified permitting framework, and for the effective enforcement by Member states of existing rules.
