The Clean Energy Package needs to be more ambitious for the European Union in order to fulfill the objectives of the Paris Agreements and the commitments of the Energy Union. 27% of the renewable energy targets for 2030, as proposed by the European Commission, fail in ambition, since it would result in a five-fold contraction of the market for renewables between 2020 and 2030, compared with the previous decade. For renewable sources, keeping pace implies an objective of at least 35% by 2030.
