Solar Heat Europe presenting at conference on Primary Energy Factors

On June 19, the French gas distribution network GRDF organised a conference on the Primary Energy Factor (PEF) for electricity. This conference aimed at rebalancing the debate, by providing technical discussions from several points of view, and outlining the political consequences of different scenarios.

Seven experts debated the topic, coming from different backgrounds, the heat pump sector, district heating, gas providers, boiler manufacturers, domestic appliances, cogeneration. Solar Heat Europe Senior policy officer, Stefano Lambertucci, was among the panellists, presenting the joint position of the renewable heating industries.

He presented in particular the link between the PEF and eco-design and energy labelling policies, showing how a decrease in PEF would impact on those areas, by leading to a potential market distortion, and unfair promotion of inefficient direct electric heaters.
