Heat represents half of the energy consumption in Europe and its decarbonisation plays a strategic role in the response to the two major crises Europe is facing: climate change and energy security. In this regard, Solar Heat Europe is organising a High-Level event, dedicated to the topic ‘Heat decarbonisation: a strategic imperative for the EU’. The event will gather different stakeholders, ranging from policymakers to representatives of different industrial sectors.

The event will provide a unique space to discuss the intersection between the recently launched REPowerEU plan, the EU Solar Energy Strategy and the ongoing discussions on the Renewable Energy Directive, as well as the need for a swift implementation across the EU when it comes to the decarbonisation of heat.

Furthermore, it will include the presentation of the solar thermal roadmap: ‘Energising Europe with Solar Heat’. The roadmap represents an overview of the contributions this sector can bring to a decarbonised and decentralised energy sector, thanks to the efforts of hundreds of SMEs spread all over Europe.
