Brief

The Auenwerkstatt Weitwörth is a nature and environmental education center located in the heart of the Natura 2000 Salzachauen area near Weitwörth-Nußdorf. It is an all-wood building, completely self-sufficient, powered purely by the sun, and it uses its wood mass as an energy store for heating and cooling. The Auenwerkstatt is thus the first solar self-sufficient municipal building in Europe. It primarily serves schools in the state of Salzburg, but also other groups, as a hub for educational programs and excursions.
