Compliance Services: update on this initiative supporting market player’s compliance with Energy Labelling and Ecodesign

The partners of the Compliance Services project met in Milan on 14–15 April to review progress and prepare the next phase of work. The project aims to make product compliance rules easier to understand and apply for heating technologies, including solar thermal systems.

For solar thermal stakeholders, the key takeaway is that work on water heaters will start soon. This will focus on clear guidance, FAQs and practical support to help manufacturers, installers and other market actors better navigate compliance requirements.

Work related to space heaters, which is also relevant for the use of solar thermal in combi-systems (space and water heating), is expected to resume later in 2026, when more regulatory clarity is available at EU level.

The meeting also advanced the development of hands‑on tools, such as an online helpdesk, guidance materials and training resources, designed to turn complex rules into practical information for daily use.

SHE will continue to follow the project closely and keep members informed as the solar thermal related work moves forward.
