DIGISOLAR aims to transform large-scale solar thermal (ST) systems by integrating them with other renewable energy sources to create flexible, decarbonized hybrid energy solutions. Its main goal is to develop theĀ DS Suite, a digital platform that uses digital twin technology, AI-based fault detection, demand forecasting, and Model Predictive Control to optimize hybrid solar thermal systems throughout their entire lifecycle. This platform supports everything from reliable planning for investors to predictive maintenance and real-time energy optimization. The project ultimately seeks to accelerate the energy transition for industrial heat processes and district heating networks.
To achieve this, DIGISOLAR has seven measurable objectives focused on developing and demonstrating the DS Suite. The software will be validated at Technology Readiness Level 7 across four demonstration sites with renewable energy shares above 80%. Digital twin tools will ensure accurate system monitoring and performance verification, while AI-based fault detection will reduce downtime and maintenance costs. Additionally, localized forecasting models will improve weather and demand predictions for system optimization.
