Yesterday, the Solar Heat Europe team attended the official opening of the Dorkwerd Solar Thermal Park – the largest solar thermal district heating installation in the Netherlands and the fourth largest in the world. This remarkable project saw significant contributions from two of our members, Novar and TVP Solar, alongside WarmteStad – the public heating company of the Municipality of Groningen – and K3, a company specialised in spatial development with a focus on nature and landscape.
The solar thermal park features 24,000 collectors supplied by TVP Solar, and will eventually provide sustainable heat to 2,600 households in Groningen.
The park was officially inaugurated by the King’s Commissioner, René Paas, who emphasised the project’s inspirational impact, stating: “This park shows everyone it can be done. It’s your turn now. You have to take the next step.”
It was a wonderful and inspiring event, where the coalition partners presented the project, followed by a guided walk through the park to witness this impressive achievement up close.
