Brussels, 3rd April 2025: Solar Heat Europe, the voice of the solar thermal industry in Brussels, announced today its recently updated statutes, corporate identity and website, affirming its intention to further grow its network and have a bigger impact on European policy discussions promoting climate neutrality objectives by 2050.
Established in 1992, the Brussels-based association represents solar heat technologies and is one of the longest running associations for renewable energy technologies. It represents via its network more than 225 organisations, across 16 countries and covers the vast majority of the solar heat sector in Europe. Solar thermal is an evident renewable energy technology, harnessing the sun’s energy to provide hot water, heat or steam. It can be easily combined with existing heating technologies, such as heat pumps or gas boilers, leading to increased efficiencies as well as carbon and cost savings. By 2030, solar heat in Europe has the potential to provide 33.3 Mt CO2 savings annually alongside significant cost savings for end-users.
“Solar heat really is the low-hanging fruit to enable heat decarbonisation. It is well established, proven, off-grid, ready-to-deploy, and – very important – European-made. We are passionate about our solutions, which tackle the most important issue of the energy transition. Thankfully, heat decarbonisation received more attention in recent years, but it is not nearly enough. The key to increasing renewable heat across all sectors and industries is technology integration and stakeholder collaboration, accelerating altogether the energy transition. This is why we’ve adopted new statutes to welcome new members representing the entire value chain of our industry”, said Guglielmo Cioni, President of Solar Heat Europe.
The association is now offering various possibilities of membership and is actively inviting national associations, technology manufacturers, project developers, academic research institutes, suppliers, end- customers, energy consultants, testing labs and certification bodies to join its ranks, either as full or associate members or supporter.
The Association also appointed Mr. Pierre Delmas from Newheat as new Director in its Board, for the category of Service Provider.
Additionally, Solar Heat Europe today unveiled its new corporate identity and website. “’Emergence’ is the word that comes to mind: our technology is a clean, innovative and reliable, exactly like our new appearance. Solar heat definitely deserves to flourish and grow to achieve – together with other clean technologies – the climate neutrality objectives by 2050. We are proud to provide a “one-stop-shop” for all things related to solar heat via our new website. Policy makers, media, local authorities, industry, end- customers and citizens alike now have a single destination to learn about the technology and its contribution to heat decarbonisation and the energy transition in Europe.” said Valérie Séjourné, Managing Director of Solar Heat Europe.
