Report on industrial policy recommendations to support Europe’s leadership

On November 5th, the Strategic Forum for Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) published a report on industrial policy recommendations to support Europe’s leadership in six strategic business areas where joint efforts and additional coordination are needed:

  • Connected, clean and autonomous vehicles
  • Hydrogen technologies and systems
  • Smart health
  • Industrial Internet of Things
  • Low-carbon industry
  • Cybersecurity

The report is part of the Commission’s efforts to strengthen the European industrial base and details specific recommendations for each sector, and additionally 5 horizontal enabling actions. Its aim is to set up a strategy to boost Europe’s competitiveness and global leadership by identifying key enabling actions (as joint investments and new standards) in the selected value chains. The 6 selected areas are made of strictly connected and integrated industrial activities with great development potential.

The recommendations included in the report will be the starting point for the new Commission which is expected to take office before the end of the year. Click here to download the full report and the Annex detailing the recommendations.

About the Strategic Forum for Important Projects of Common European Interest

The forum is a commission expert group set up in 2018 which gathers 45 members from industry and academia with the objective of identifying key strategic value chains in Europe and develop a vision on key value chains in Europe. The group should provide the Commission with advice and expertise to build this vision and facilitate agreements to promote new joint investments and actions in the identified areas, whilst promoting the cooperation between public authorities and stakeholders.
