CEN/TC312 and Solar Heat Europe/ESTIF will jointly organize a workshop dedicated to the topic “Next generation of CEN TC312 Standards”. This event will take place in Brussels, on the 7th of June 2018.
This workshop is a response to a need that has been identified within our sector: define a strategy for standardization and certification in the solar heating and cooling sector which is in line with the current reality and future challenges that the solar thermal sector, in particular, and the renewable heating and cooling sector in general, will face all over the coming years.
Building on the achievements in terms of standardisation and certification over the last decades, we shall debate what are the current and future needs of the sector and how this shall be reflected in terms of standardisation and certification activities, in order to enhance the competitiveness of our industry.
Standardisation and certification activities are a relevant investment for solar thermal companies and represent an important competitiveness factor in several markets, be it in Europe or beyond. And they are increasingly relevant vis-à-vis existing regulations emanating from Brussels, such as energy labelling, energy performance of buildings and Solar Keymark. As a result, we have seen these standards are not only relevant regarding the competition within our sector but also in the framework of the competition between different heating and cooling technologies.
Therefore, it is of paramount importance that industry experts participate in this workshop, providing their opinion on the future challenges and on perceived shortcomings as well as advantages of standardisation and certification activities.
We invite experts from our industry to participate in this workshop and present their ideas regarding the needs of the sector in terms of designing standards fit for the solar thermal industry future.
