November 3, 2016, the European Solar Thermal Industry Association (ESTIF) released its “2015 European solar heat market summary report.”

According to the ESTIF report, the European solar thermal market is currently facing a new installed capacity contraction, compared with 2014, sales fell 6%.

The summary report highlights the relevance of the RES-HC industry, and the greater contribution of RES-HC can drive EU member countries to take a further step towards their 2020 energy targets.

The report also shows that the implementation of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan for Solar Energy (NREAP) is below the target, confirming the recent results of the European Commission’s assessment.

Even in countries like Italy, Spain and France, if the right measures are taken, the potential for solar thermal energy is also very large.

Pedro Dias added: “There are still four years away from the 2020 target, and the Renewable Renewable Energy Resources (RES-HC) still has a huge potential for unexploitation and can be deployed quickly. Solar thermal applications such as solar water heaters or for industrial The process of solar heat has already shown their competitiveness. ”
